We'll be on our way to Cornwall but want somewhere nice to stop for lunch that is better and cheaper than the motorway services.

TIA

Can't find a website but has good food & a children's menu. Nice garden view over the Severn on a good day.

Ooh I live 100 yards from the Royal! You can come to mine for a cuppa. Can't guarantee decent food though.

Brewsters in Portishead is ok, child friendly with soft play and separate menus for little kids and big kids.

Portsihead is J19 (Gordano Services). Brewsters 5 mins away, The Royal about 10.

The Swan Junction 7 at Worcester (bit higher up than you might have wanted) but it's a fave haunt of the worcester mumsnet meet-ups I believe. Food is yum.

I'm not sure where we want to be honest. We're coming from Yorkshire and hoping to set off around 5am ish. It all depends on what time we get set off, how much we stop before lunch etc.

blimey - you'll actually be in cornwall by lunchtime won't you if you set off that early? (although I am well rubbish at geog/distances so probably talking out of my arse)

Number 5 Coffee Shop & Bistro in Clevedon is great - right on The Beach.

It's about 5 mins from Junction 20.

We could be but we will be stopping a few times. A 2yr old and 8 hours driving isn't a good combination

Clevedon was nice (on our way back from Devon) for a short walk along the front. We had an ok-ish lunch in a slightly random pub.

On the way out we stopped in Chipping Sodbury - there was an absolutely lovely tearoom (called Jennie's,I think) with great grub and cakes. Parking was easy and the village was lovely for a short leg stretch.

Both of those were with a 2 yr old and a 6 month old

Plus we go on Saturday so we'll hit some football traffic somewhere along the way i'm sure.

Phoenix Sun 07-Sep-08 20:36:07

Clevedon sounds nice

Prepare for delays at Almondsbury Interchange, down to Portishead. They are doing workon the Avonmouth Bridge there and there will probably be tailbacks. Also for that reason would suggest you don't stop at Portishead as the traffic is queuing to get back on the motorway.

The cafe at Clevedon someone else mentioned is good and there is a park close by.
