(3 Posts)I would be really grateful for some help or direction on this.
It's a very long time (20 years) since I lived in central London and at least 10 since I last visited.
I fly into LHR (ETA 21:30) on a Friday evening in March with my twin 13 year olds.
Am I best to order a car (and if so, who? Addison Lee?) or take Heathrow Express to Paddington and then black cab to County Hall?
My anxiety is only because I want an easy option if we are delayed and arrive later than expected.
All wise thoughts grateful received.
Heathrow Express will be quicker than a cab. The last train is at midnight so plenty of leeway for delays. It takes 15 mins and there are trains every 15 mins.
If you don't have too much luggage, Paddington to Waterloo is direct on the tube - 15 mins on the Bakerloo line. Or you can get an Uber or black cab from the rank in the station.
It might actually be cheaper to book an Addison Lee car from the airport though if there are 3 of you. You can get a quote online.
Both options are pretty easy. If your flight is really delayed until after midnight, you always have the emergency back up option of the Piccadilly line (change at Green Park to the Jubilee line for Waterloo) that runs 24 hours on Friday and Saturday or (expensive) black cab from the airport.
Thanks so much @goingoverground.
