Start using Mumsnet Premiuminteresting route Lisbon to Algarve?
(6 Posts)Hi Im looking for an interesting road trip from Lisbon to the algarve. Hopefully with some places to stop off for lunch or a swim on the way that will be interesting to the kids.
We need to take our time getting to the algarve so we are not waiting at the rental house to check-in.
Your best bet is to go down the coast road through Vilanova de Milfontes, Sines, Monte Clerigo, Arrifana. Beautiful, wild landscape but very strong waves and tides, popular with surfers. Then down onto the 125 or A22 around Lagos, Bensafrim. Where is your accommodation?
thanks. Its near VillaMorua
Or come straight down and head for any beach for the afternoon
we arrive at the crack of dawn......
Any good breakfast places on the way?
We'll have a car full of luggage!
There will be lots of places for breakfast, I’d just get across the 25 April bridge as quickly as possible to get out of Lisbon - or the Vasco da Gama if you’re coming straight down to the algarve (it’s nearer the airport).
Or you could drive along to Cascais (about 30 minutes from Lisbon, have breakfast and some time on the beach there, then head down here. It will take around 3 hours to get to Vilamoura from Lisbon
