Christmas break - does this idyllic place exist?

Inspired by the Christmas angst thread on another forum. A couple of years ago we escaped the Christmas mayhem and it was bliss. I am thinking of doing the same again but obviously we are too late for this Christmas.

I'd love to spend Christmas in a lovely 4/5 star hotel in Scotland (or anywhere that fits the following criteria). The hotel should be old, traditional with great food and rooms. We would spend 3 or 4 nights there over Christmas and have a lovely Christmas Eve, Day and Boxing Day meal. Days would be spent walking in the grounds in the fresh air. Back at the hotel we can sit around a nice cosy fire and enjoy whatever is going on. Hotel must accept children.

Does such a place exist?

Lakeside on the edge of windermere would fit most of those - only the grounds which may not win - but has everything else

Not Scotland but it seems to meet the rest of your criteria Keswick Hotel

We have stayed a few times and although we haven't stayed at Christmas we have done their New Year package twice and had a lovely time.

Crieff hydro is very family friendly, also look at Hilton Dunblane or depending how far you want to go, Hilton Craigendarroch

Yes Crieff Hydro was also my first thought.
