Somerset and Dorset road trip - booking B&Bs en route!

We aren't pre booking a holiday this summer we are just going to load up the 4x4 and do a road trip through the westcountry.

Two kids age 8 and 10

Just going to take pot luck on finding accommodation as we drive around. If we can't find anywhere will have to sleep in the back grin
We've camped out before in stone bothies so should be able to manage the odd night.

Does anyone have experience of youth hosteling in these areas?

I don't think we'll make it as far as Devon or Cornwall, so I need some recommendations on seaside/coastal/beaches along the Dorset coast. Not Bournemouth, more towards Lulworth and Weymouth areas.

Definitely want to visit Glastonbury Tor, Wells, Cheddar, Wookey hole. Does anyone know what the big model village is called down that way?
