Just arrived at a villa in Spain. Had a nice afternoon when another family arrived.
The company are denying receipt of our payment but we have receipts as proof.
We have agreed for both families to share for tonight.
We need.help in how to move forward with this?

Do you have travel insurance? Ring them

sm40 Sat 27-May-17 23:11:37

How did you get in if they didn't tell you???

Missnutter Sat 27-May-17 23:14:57

It's actually a friend who's in this situation. With young children also. Keys were left outside.

MissEliza Sat 27-May-17 23:15:36

How did you get in? And surely you have some receipt of payment?

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 Sat 27-May-17 23:18:25

Keys were left outside? Really?

VanillaSugar Sat 27-May-17 23:19:07

Who owns the villa. Is there a rep.? Why say "we" when it's a friend? Are you actually in Spain?

user1491401693 Sat 27-May-17 23:20:00

Haven't we had this before?

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 Sat 27-May-17 23:20:20

Yes, why DID you say it was you?

ArtemisiaGentilleschi Sat 27-May-17 23:20:21

How was the villa booked?

ExplodedCloud Sat 27-May-17 23:21:29

Did either family pay on a credit card? Do both have insurance?
They need to speak to credit card companies to confirm payments went through and they should be able to get a new payment authorised. Can you see if there's anything near them that's available?

skyzumarubble Sat 27-May-17 23:21:58

Is it you or a fried?

Where was it booked through and how was it paid for!

Missnutter Sat 27-May-17 23:22:06

Got all proof of receipts and bank payments. But company denying it. So it's there word against my friends. The other family apparently has been paid.. they just don't know what to do tomorrow if company still denying it's an error and 2 bookings were made. Any help would be appreciated.

skyzumarubble Sat 27-May-17 23:22:32

Bloody autocorrect - you get the jist

GavelRavel Sat 27-May-17 23:23:43

what is the point of this if its not really happenning to you?

Missnutter Sat 27-May-17 23:23:53

It's my friend. Trying to get information/help for her as not very good WiFi and feels useless.

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 Sat 27-May-17 23:23:59

Why were the other family paid? Surely it should have been them doing the paying. You're not making much sense

Waltermittythesequel Sat 27-May-17 23:24:28

Why did you say it was you?

ArtemisiaGentilleschi Sat 27-May-17 23:28:20

The other family's insurance has paid do you mean?

Missnutter Sat 27-May-17 23:36:35

So my friend has paid and arrived today. And another family has arrived today and also paid.
The company is saying they've only received payment from the other family. My friend has proof of her payment.
They just don't know what to do about this and whether they should just come home tomorrow?

ThreeFish Sat 27-May-17 23:38:08

Any time I've stayed at a villa, the owner gives instructions where to collect / find the key.
Has the villa been let via two different agencies?
Your friend needs to get on to whoever her agreement is with urgently.
Hth

The Op is trying to get help for a friend who is prob stressed and not on mumsnet. She was paraphrasing for clarity hence the short sentences and saying we?

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 Sat 27-May-17 23:39:09

It's the company's responsibility to sort it out not your friends. If they have double booked then they need to find alternative accommodation for one if the families

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth Sat 27-May-17 23:39:21

Why did you say it was you?

yumyumpoppycat Sat 27-May-17 23:40:33

Did she use the correct account details when making the payment - was it an online thing or a transfer?
