Excess baggage or shipping for charity

We're travelling to Uganda in August with supplies for a new children's hospital that have been donated and collected.

We were planning to fly Emirates but they only allow 30kg baggage which isn't massive, we've wrote to them asking for more given the circumstances but I'm not holding out much hope they'll oblige as they probably get a lot of requests!

However Emirates excess baggage charges are wildly expensive! You can't just buy an extra bag like you can on some airlines and to double your allowance is £700!! That's the cost of the flight.

Has anyone ever shipped luggage using a separate company and could offer any advice? Or has any other ideas on how we could get the stuff there?
