Start using Mumsnet PremiumCheap hotel for stop over near Rennes/le Mans
(10 Posts)We are travelling up from Provence, does anyone recommend a hotel for a stop over about 3 hours from roscoff. Maybe between Le Mans and Rennes? Please
We stayed in a motel a few years back doing the same journey. It was by a lake on the edge of Le Mans. Very basic but did what we needed. I think it was probably a Formula 1 / ETAP type place. Will have a Google and see if I can find it
Sorry - huge link but I'm currently in Spain with iffy internet hiding from the DC
Also try Campanile. I think we stayed at the Arnage area looking at the blurb for each place.
We stayed in the Premiere Classe in Le Mans once.

In my experience this chain is very cheap and nasty - we stayed in three of them for overnights and two of them made TravelLodges look like the Ritz! This hotel was a lot nicer than the other two and I'd stay there again.
I liked Le Mans - well worth a trip into in the evening if you have time,
Is Le Mans nice? I drove round the ourskirts once and was put off. We may stay there then instead. Thanks for advice.
I liked the city centre! The hotel was in the University district on the outskirts and it was quite leafy and pleasant. I'm sure it's got some rough areas though.
I've found an ibis in laval. Looks ok. It's just for sleeping but we have 3 kids which always makes it tricky. Thanks for helping
We stayed at the mecure hotel Le Mans last year. It was reasonably priced a bit basic similar to a good travel lodge or premier inn. As for Le Man I wouldn't go wandering around too much I thought it rather depressing.
