(2 Posts)Hi
Going to France to n September. Is there a good website to compare car rental prices? Thanks
Moneysavingexpert is your friend for this type of thing - there are several comparison sites.
I don't know if it's the same in France, but we've hired a lot in Spain and what you need to watch out for is rip off fuel policies and being charged for extra insurance, despite apparently hiring with comprehensive insurance. its comprehensive except wheels, tyres, glass and underneath usually.
It's best to hire on full - full for fuel if you can, unless you know you will use or nearly use a whole tank of fuel because they will charge you loads for the fuel, and not refund unused fuel, or charge an admin fee.
They can charge loads extra for insurance - up to 10/15 euro per day, so it's best to get excess insurance before you go - we recently paid just £7 for 4 days cover instead of 13 euro per day. You will need to pay the deposit on your credit card, which can be 500-1000 euro so make sure you have this amount available.
I've always taken advice from MSE and never had a problem with being charged extra, even the time when DP drove our hire car into the back of a bus 20 minutes out of the airport.
