Does a wetsuit keep a 5 year old warm in a swimming pool?

Struggling to find a villa with a heated pool for our May holiday. Would a wetsuit keep her warm enough to swim properly?

Yes. But they have to fit tightly. They definitely work though.

Any tips on best ones to buy SavoyCabbage?

We bought Osprey wetsuits from Asda last summer for a very cold UK holiday. Kept dd (then aged 4) comfortably warm in the sea. Think they were about £25 though so not cheap. If you're going anywhere a bit surfy you can probably pick them up cheaper at your destination.

Ps. Wrote found the sizing very large so try before you buy if possible.

My dd's first one was from decathlon. I would get one from a place you can try them on. I live in Australia now so can't be much help! All the kids have them here. these are what we have now.

I usually get two years out of mine. You can wear them at the beach too of course. I would get a rash vest for underneath maybe too.

I found some on jojo maman for £21. There is a 10% code floating around somewhere too.

DD wore one from Splash About and was absolutely fine in it. Our pool wasn't heated and she lasted longer than DH.

DSs 5 and 2 have the TWF ones from amazon which do the trick. best to go by measurements rather than age as they need to be fitted.

rash vests are a really good idea. if your LO is a water baby and likes to stay in for ages you might have to get one for yourself and maybe consider boots to keep feet warm.

rash vests keep the sun off, but unless they are thermal rash vests (there is such a thing) they make you colder from wind chill.

wetsuits are designed to help warmth in water - if they fit.

The Two Bare Feet neoprene body/lycra arm suits are good.

DD got hers from Decathlon too. They are cheap and they work.
