Anyone know about citation software for Mac?

I've just started a masters course which will take two years. I'm working on my first assignment and it's coming back to me how much a HATE doing reference lists. So bloody TEDIOUS!

So I was wondering if anyone can recommend any citation management software that I can use with Microsoft Office for Mac 2008. I think my uni uses Endnote but I'm not sure if it's compatible - I'm assuming not as is usually the case.

Thanks in advance.

I'd look at www.endnote.com first, you might be surprised.

we are a totally Mac lab and all use Endnote - we have MS Office for MacOs so write in Word, but it'll still work in OpenOffice Writer 3 and the native Mac word processor afaik

I'm a PC user so I don't know if zotero (firefox add on) will work with a Mac but not only is it BRILLIANT but it is free. Worth a look.

I've just downloaded a free 30 day trial version of Endnote from here if anyone else wants a go

That's reassuring that your DH uses it with a mac - I just don't trust the compatibility thing!

Thanks Vulpus (are you Vulpusina?) I'll check that out too.

Thanks y'all

I've used lots of citation software (Endnote, Reference Manager and lots of the older versions...) but not on a Mac.

zotero wipes the floor with all of them IMHO, bar a few issues about transferring collections between computers. But because it is open source, it is improving all the time.

It is the most simple and intuitive to collect reference information from a wide range of sources.

[on the name: either will do ]
