Why won't Club Penguin load but everything else will?

It's most odd. I'm using IE8 and have tried clearing the cache and deleting cookies. I've checked our broadband download speed which apparently is almost 6 mega-whatsits, so should be fine. I've even tried on Google Chrome which I downloaded specially for Club Bloody Penguin but it makes no difference.

But on Dh's laptop it loads fine (via the same home hub router from BT).

So is the problem somewhere with the desktop? It's an HP Pavilion one from John Lewis, about 2 years old and running Vista. It has two hard disk drives, the HP C drive says it has 348 GB free of 458 and the Factory Image D drive says it has 0.98 GB free of 7.38 GB

All help gratefully received - DS2 is obsessed with Club Penguin and DH's laptop is only at home at weekends smile

This is a long shot but how does this computer connect to your router- wirelessly or with an ethernet cable? The reason I'm asking is that I once encountered this baffling problem and it turned out that it was the security on the wireless network- turn it off, and the problem went away. In my case it wasn't Club Penguin but the problem was basically the same- a couple of perfectly good web sites became unavailable.

If it's not already connected with a cable try that and see what happens.

Thanks - it's connected with an ethernet cable. Should have said - it's an intermittent problem, not all the time

Check if it's an add-on by running IE8 in no add-ons mode. Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) to see if one is causing the problem. If this fixes the issue, then go to Tools -> Manage Add-ons and change the Show setting on the left to All Add-ons, then select all of the add-ons listed and click Disable All. You can then enable the add-ons one by one to find which one is causing the problem.

Or, if you have any add-ons with a large load time (more than .2 seconds) enabled, you may want to disable them and see if that helps with your loading issue. Just go to Tools->Manage Add-ons to do this.

Hope that helps.

You're welcome, let me know if that fixes it...
