ÑÑÑÑÑÑÑÑ.ÑÑÑ files on my USB stick

I want to delete all the photos on a USB stick (I use it in a digital photo frame).

However all the files are listed as either ÑÑÑÑÑÑÑÑ.ÑÑÑ which says it is a system file, if deleted PC or some programs may no longer work etc,
or they are listed as ¬u¬u¬u¬u.¬U¬ files which appear empty, access is denied and cannot find source.

Any ideas how I can delete these files? I would like a clean memory stick if possible.

Are there other files on the USB stick?

If not, then you might find it easiest to 'format' the USB stick but be very careful to choose that drive.

Depends on the version of Windows you are using - I tend to use Windows Explorer ("File Manager" from earlier versions of Windows) and have the folder list in the left pane of the window. Then either right-click the USB stick, (or highlight it, and use the File menu), and look for "Format..."

Thanks webdude, I reformatted and all seems well, hopefully just a weird glitch!

Once or twice I've also seen a file marked as being impossible to rename or delete.

Yes, seems a bit odd and I've yet to determine what causes it. I'm using Windows XP.
