Tomtom question!

Hello,
I have a Tom Tom Go 910. The other day I put it in my bag whilst it was on as I had just set our route so I could just hook it up when we got in the car. However, when I took it out the directions now only show as the next direction or turn I need to take, instead of showing a map like sat navs usually do. I went into the preferences bit to turn the 2d or 3d bit back on, but it will not allow me to select it. Any ideas as to how I can get the maps back on? If this made any sense at all! Lol. Thanks.
