Have invited everyone in my hotmail contact list to be a friend including my parents and out laws who I do not want to see my postings. Durrrrrr.

Is there anyway I can uninvite them without seeming really rude? Or do I have to delete my facebook account and start anew?

Thats what 2 glasses of red wine does to you!!

You can set your privacy settings so they can't see your wall posts.

Aah so do I have to do that by email address then ladyg?

And do they know that then and get offended?

Not that I think they use facebook but will probably just nosey at my life (not my parents but other contacts).

You can do it as your default setting and then vary it for the people you want to see the whole thing (I think). They won't know.

You can put them in a special group by themselves that cannot see your wall and can only see certain albums of picutres (that you choose) and so on... or block them now before they accept, hopefully they will think it is a glitch?

If you go the the friends menu, and click on 'all connections' then you should be able to delete the requests from there.

Report
hotpotmama · 28/07/2009 20:59

How do you delete the requests? Can only see my friends on there not everyone I have just invited?

Feel such a fool cos there are lots of contacts that are not friends that have been invited like people I have booked a holiday with etc - am such a durrrrrr brain at the mo.

If you go to "settings" then privacy and scroll down you have a litle box, type in their names and click block. You will get a list of potential matches, select the ones you want and hey presto, you no longer exist as far as they are concerned.

hotpotmama · 28/07/2009 22:06

So you can't recall the message sent then? Only block them once they have accepted? Bummer. Am sooooooo stupid!!!

I am not sure about the recall - I would uspect no thaough as that would mean people could see if they had been "ignored" and I thought that no-one could know if you had clicked ignore to a friend request!

Go to "Friends" then "invite friends" then "View all invitations".

It looks like you will only have the option to leave them or "delete all not accepted" so you may have to start again at the begininng - but that could be a good thing

Thanks kingcanute. Have done that. SO now its showing as tho I haven't invited them on my side but will they still have the invite their side but just not be able to accept it? Sorry for being very thick, am not normally so dim!!

I would guess that the invitation will be removed their side so they will just have the email in their inbox.

The next problem of course is that they will probably invite you now

Report
hotpotmama · 28/07/2009 22:27

Yes, maybe that email will go astray!!

ooh how do you do the settings thing?

MIL added me - couldn't really refuse but I would like to hide my wall from her!

go into the settings then privacy bit in the top right corner, then you get a list - profile, search, news/wall, apps (i think) - gonna have to open another tab now

I am not sure Mamag, sorry. I only played with them once when I first joined, I have just been trying to find out but I cannot work it out, hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will have the answer!

mamaG, assuming you are with me so far (see last post) then click on "privacy" settings. you get a page with all the 'bits' of your profile on it. Scroll down to Wall Posts, then click Customise settings, and you can select who you don't want to see your wall posts - or obv any other bit.
hope this makes sense?

Report
KingCanuteIAm · 28/07/2009 22:45

Nope, you have lost me (easy done!), I can get to the privacy tab but no customise option...
