'Flash upgrade required' but won't download. Safari/Mac help needed please!

I have a Macbook Air and use Safari.

It keeps asking me to upgrade my Flash but when I try it says I still have Safari open - even when I've closed everything I can see - so won't work.

How can I get it to upgrade? Anyone?

Can you shut down the whole system and restart?

I'd do that (the best solution to all Mac problems!), but then also try running software update from the apple menu. You shouldn't need to upgrade flash if you're running the latest safari.

Thanks for replies

Will try shutting down and restarting.

Not sure if I have the latest Safari, how would I know?

Click on the little apple menu, top left.

The second thing down (at least it is on mine) is Software Update. Run that while you're online and it will tell you if any software upgrades are out there for you, and then install them if you want. If you haven't done that recently, that will quite likely sort it out for you.

You can set it to run automatically every week, which is good as then it just goes and has a look and then tells you if there is anything out there.

Aha!

It's worked! Thanks - every now and then this annoying thing bounces up and down asking me to update and i've been ignoring it

Had loads to update.

Updated and Flash is working fine.

Thanks again

This happens to me and I have firefox. I downloaded it on IE and it works ok if I have IE open but if I have firefox open it doesn't work and doesn't let me download it either.
