sounds mad but I did something... I know not what, and now my menu bar hides, but when I go to the top right of the screen for any reason it slides in (it's vertical down screen right) even when I don't want it. It has been like that for about 10 days and I'm fed up of having to creep up on it unawares so it doesn't spring out, in order to minimise docs or anything. Please help me put it back in its place!

  1. Do you mean your menu bar on Internet explorer, or do you mean the bar that is usually at the bottom of the screen with the Start button on it - (the taskbar)

If it is the taskbar you mean:
  2. Do you actually want it vertically, or would you like it at the bottom - if so, you can click on it, hold the mouse button down & drag it back to where you want it
  3. If it's popping up when you take the mouse near it, it's set to Autohide - you can change this by right clicking on it, choosing Properties & changing the tick in the box that says AutoHide.

Ah yes, I think Rusty is right, please ignore me (F11 hides/unhides the menu bar in many applications, but I think you are talking about the taskbar).

Damn, I was after a prize for the shortest ever helpful answer on mumsnet
