Need a new network adapter for the pc

The one I have is only a cheapy one and despite reviews saying it was as good as the more expensive ones (and it was ok at first) it clearly isn't now.

I have a sky router (sagem I think) and don't want to spend too much on one - just want one that works really!

What does anyone recommend?

Many thanks

what do you mean by 'network adapter'? Your PC/laptop should have an ethernet port, and you connect a cable from it to the router.

Alternatively you use wireless to connect to the router - and again this is usually on-board. Or do you mean the router - ie you want to replace your Sagem router with something better?

What are the problems that you are having?

I mean the usb dongle to enable my pc to be wireless. The one I have keeps going reeealllly slow and I only have 3 bars out of 5 working on the router icon thingy.

It could be the position of your wireless router - it should have a small aerial that you can point in different directions to see if that improves the signal - but walls sometimes get in the way!

You could try a different USB Dongle thingy (but I haven't used these so can't advise). Otherwise, you could look at Home Plugs - run ethernet over your power cables. You need at least 2, one to plug in near the router, and the other by your pc. You plug them both into normal plug sockets, then run an ethernet cable from the plug to the PC and another one to the router.

We have these for wireless blackspots - and they have worked really well.

Don't think router has an aerial - it's not visible so unless it is folded in somewhere - will go look.

The reason I assumed it was the dongle is because my laptop doesn't seem to have the same problem.

Will look at the home plugs as well thanks.
