I need to design a poster. Is there anything out there like 'Photoshop'- but free??

I have to design an 'educational' poster geared towards teens. I designed a poster recently for a different assignment and used just Powerpoint. It was a bit crap tbh - a colleague used Adobe Photoshop for her poster and it looked brilliant.

I want to design my current poster using something like Photoshop- but its too expensive to purchase. Is there any similar software out there for free?

Yes it's called GIMP and it's FAB

P.S. the first time you launch it after installation it will appear to hang for ages as it indexeds all the fonts already on your computor - that is normal.

Have you ever used Photoshop? If you haven't you should give yourself time to work with GIMP as it is not intuitive to use (neither is photoshop).

Make good use of the online tutorials though and you will be fine.
