Downloading onto MP3, help, i don't know what i'm doing.

I have been given a MP3 player and i havn't got a clue how to use it. I have put the disk in the pc and followed the instructions (downloaded software) but i don't know what to do next. Where can i find a song to download (for free) so i can test it out? And how do i download a song?

Im sorry i'm a bit thick when it comes to things like this .
