Video camera recommendations, please!

Hello all

Our video camera seems to be dying so please can I have your recommendations for a new one? User friendly is a key requirement.

Budget £400 (tops)

Format - I really don't know what I am talking about here, but can you get one that records straight on to DVD?

Do you tend to record long videos or would a decent digital camera do the job for you? We bought a digital video camera and barely use it as we make lots of short films with our fuji digital camera. Cheaper than dig video which can be very pricey.

I suspect you could transfer most to dvd via pc easily.
