Online job applications - any way to convert pdf files to a format that will allow input and edits?

I am currently job hunting and have found that many of the larger organisations have an online process that allows an applicant to complete an e-form which is then sent electronically to the employer with no need to print off a hard copy.

However I am now trying to complete an application form for a smaller company. They have provided the application form online as a PDF document. The instructions state that the form may be completed by hand or by type. I would rather complete the form by type as the space provided to write your details is quite small and I think my application would look more professional this way.

So I am wondering if anyone knows of a program or process that would allow me to convert the PDF file to something like word or notepad...I could then fill in my details and print off the form once finished.

Many Thanks

I've used a converter, but cut and paste works just as well.

Thanks for the replies...I have tried to copy and paste but for some reason all the margins/boxes are distorted - trying to decide if that looks better than my handwritten version.

Yeah zippitippitoes...the pdf is read only which seems to defeat the purpose of providing an application online. And it doesn't matter how neat anyone writes...the application still looks better when it is typed.

Oh well...back to the drawing board!!

The convertor I used was just as bad with boxes... do you know anyone with the Adobe editor?

Mary...thanks again for your suggestion...there was the option to call up and request a copy of the application pack so now I am wondering if scanning the original would work.

I have an all in one scanner/printer but have only ever used it to print so not sure of the possibilities with scanned text.

Beginning to suspect they are making the application process so difficult in order to whittle down the applicants!!
