I cant remove a music file I've dowloaded and it doesnt work?

was recomended a while back to sue lime wire, all set up, got some tracks dowloaded all fine, but tried to get a particular song and when i try to play, theres nothing there? and it jumps straight to next song?..ive erased it from downloaded box and from playlist but it wont let me remove it from the list of songs ive got(will go abck on and find proper name for it!)..saying its in use or something?

HAVE been able ti delete other songs, just not these three?

I don't know why it's doing that, but you might want to try quitting limeware and searching for the file itself. Then either delete it if it lets you or right click and look at properties for clues why it won't.

hiya, and thanks..put computer back on tonight and it DID let me delete them, dp seems to think maybe someone 'else' was sharing the file at that precise moment disabling me from deleating it?..although when i deleted first one...my computer switched itself off!..and during the next 1/2 hour while using lime wire it did it again????
Maybe its lack of memeory/ability on my pc?

If the file was being shared that could explain it. Though in any case Windows has a few bugs when it comes to denying access to files. There is a special utility you can download for files that really refuse to go.

As for the PC switching off that ought not to happen, but some sharing programs are a bit buggy. The other thing I check when that happens is the temperature of the PC in case overheating, but that's more likely to happen in a heatwave than now.

thankyou, well the computor 'does' seems to kick into fan mode a lot at moment??

You may have a temperature display in the bios, but that's a pain to get into to check each time. You could install Everest which gives all sorts of useful info about the computer including the temperatures and it means you can look frequently (it will even display it onscreen)

If it's a laptop work out where the air vents are and make sure they are clear. For a desktop PC make sure the fan/s are clean (a pastry brush with the PC turned off works for me) and are spinning properly

If using XP there is a handy 'Events' log which shows past errors and when things started/stopped. You get there by right clicking 'My Computer' and selecting 'Manage' then looking for 'Events viewer'

Or by doing Start Menu - and in the run box typing eventvwr.msc

I don't know what all of it means but a red symbol with a cross is generally bad and is worth clicking on to see what it says
