Can anyone please help?
I thik dd has been messing about and everything on the monitor is HUGE- icons, text etc etc. I changed the resolution but all it does is alter how much can be seen on the screen, not the actual size iyswim. The start menu is only just visible and any minimised windows are below the bottom of the screen. I've tried (almost) everything to no avail. I also got a new monitor to see if that was the problem but it isn't!
It's so bad I can't use it so always use the laptop but I could do with usibg the PC upstairs for some peace and quiet now and then (dh needs it for work and it's so hard to use!)

What version of Windows are you using? I've just had a look on mine (XP) - if you right click on a blank bit of screen you get Properties then Settings lets you change the screen resolution, and Appearance lets you change the font size - I would have thought one of those will be the problem.

Not sure offhand where the settings are in Vista, but they are probably called something similar.

Thanks amis. I have tried that and it doesn't work . Screen resolution changes just makes it more 'magnified' and more stuff is off the screen and I have the font size set to normal.
I need a miracle worker!

Shameless bump for any online experts around now
I would be eternally grateful if anyone could help me fix this (as would dh!)

You're not using the - cannot remember the word and don't want to offend anyone- the disability options that magnify everything. You set it in control panel.

Other option is that they have changed your monitor settings actually on the monitor (buttons normally on side, top or bottom)

Have you turned the resolution up (not down)? That might be it.

Thanks. I've had a look for settings like that, I thought there was a prtially sighted option but can't find it.
Resolution doesn't help either up or down and it isn't the monitor as I've now tried 3 and all are the same!

There are 'accessibility options' as they call them, but though there is a zoom tool it's not the whole screen I'm afraid.

It's possible that in your system tray you have an extra utility to control monitors etc. It may come with your graphics card drivers and have advanced options that have been altered. Mine is SIS for example.

If you have then try double clicking it, but also try right click for the menu.

Thanks. It's a pretty old PC (XP) so I have no idea what or where those things are!!
Looks like I will have to stick to the laptop
