I can't really be doing with it all, but have joined to that I can send and share pictures. But even though I've only got 2 'friends' at the moment, they're both facebook addicts who are a lot younger than me and I've got all sorts of gubbins on my page that I am really not interested in at all.

I don't want to see all of their friends
I don't want to know who's 'poked' them or 'written on their wall' or sent cyber hugs (WTF?)
I don't want to see a minute-by-minute running commentary about what these two are thinking, feeling, blah blah blah

All I want is to access some of my friends so I can show them photos from nights out and stuff that we've been on recently (at their request). If I can;t egt rid of all this fannying about and silly crap then I can't be doing with it

You can set up what notifications you want, and which ones you don't want.

I disagree.

With Facebook, you don't have to go looking for new photos, as you would with a dedicated photo site. If your friends put up new photos, you can tell - with a photo site you wouldn't know unless you were notified or purposely went looking.

The reason I'm using facebook is because they all use it too. One of them got married recently and we've got tonnes of photos of her hen do and wedding that we all took and want to share.

Squeaky - how do I set up the notifications thingy?

You have to go to the account area, and under that, you should find a tag for notifications.

I have all but one of mine turned off.
