I am trying to print out a sheet with text on both sides (easy enough). It is in 3 columns and will be folded into thirds (like a brochure).

When I am in print preview it looks perfectly centred on the page.

When it is printed out there is more room on right hand side than left. So when it is folded up it is not folding into the columns.

I need it for a trip I'm taking with ds1. It outlines all his allergies, etc.

thanks!

Are you printing it as the right paper size?

cornflakegirl Thu 31-Jul-08 13:31:55

Try this website wordtips.vitalnews.com/Pages/T000496_Margins_Incorrect_When_Printing.html

It wasn't me!

What did you change?

KerryMum Thu 31-Jul-08 13:40:08

no, the columns are printing perfectly now that I've changed the paper size! smile

but right border line went away. I can live with that though.

You might need to play with your margins.

See if this link helps www.pcuser.com.au/pcuser/hs2.nsf/lookup+1/8F18B37FDAF2F331CA256AE6002C9F36

oh hell.

this is doing my head in. I am so stressed for time. sad

Does anyone have any ideas?

cornflake I checked that link and tried things and it's not working sad but thanks.

The document is 3 columns on landscape. The columns are all equal size. There is a border round the entire doc. The space between the border and the end of paper is significantly smaller on left than on right. I can't figure it out. Someone PLEASE help.

you just have to keep FIDDLING I'm afraid

Change it by a little bit each time

Word doesn't perfectly reproduce the printer settings

You just have to fiddle fiddle fiddle

Or take the border out - Word's not great with borders TBH, I never use them

morningpaper Thu 31-Jul-08 21:47:02

If you have publisher, use that instead

otherwise you just have to keep adjusting the margins on the paper setup

RustyBear Thu 31-Jul-08 21:52:31

Have you checked:
the gutter settings (Page setup/Margins)
the page size of your document
the page size your printer is set to

I am in tears here sad

nothing working.

columns and border feckin everything up

DontNeedAnything Thu 31-Jul-08 22:22:55

Is it not working because you have more on teh left than the right. Can you trim it to size.

Or is it that one size of the paper doesn't line up with the other?

DontNeedAnything Thu 31-Jul-08 22:23:22

Sorry one side of the paper...
