Any Dan Zanes CD. He used to be the singer of Los Lobos and has a series of children's CD's that are really unusually good. My dd listens to one in particular (Night Time, I think) over and over and over and over and over and I'm still not sick of it.
Also, go to the library and check out some audiobooks from the children's section. Much cheaper than buying them.

i'm not sure how relevant this would be for your DS but for my DS i download the podcasts off BBC, Nickelodeon etc.

Ds has an MP3 player which cost half what the folding, volume-limited Sennheiser headphones did
