I installed some autism awareness thing, and it is irritating me.

I clicked uninstall, and now the option is gone (hurrah), but when I type in my address bar it used to just bring up google's first match (so type in someone famous, get their imdb page etc), but it is still bringing up a yahoo autism search thingy.

How do I get it back doing what it was before??

Try going to Tools, Add-Ons, and looking in Plug Ins and Extensions to see if the thing you installed is still listed. If it is, click the Disable button.

Also try: View, Toolbars and see what is listed there. I have Navigation Toolbar and Google Toolbar ticked - any others unticked.

Failing those, try a Full Reboot.

In the address bar type:

about:config

A warning message may come up, click to accept that you wish to continue.

A list will appear. At the top there is a box labelled Filter

Type:

keyword

You will now see a short list.

Mine says:
keyword.URL
keyword.enabled

The keyword.URL is where you need to check the entry is pointing to your preferred search engine.

Mine is Google and the following is the command line:
www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=

keyword.enable d is True or False
click on the entry to change, it should be set on True
