Has anyone bought that fitness thing for the Wii?

Still untoned after (enormous) DD birth 7 mths ago (not that I was ever a gym goer!) But I am competitive and like the idea of setting goals and being told to do it (even if it is by a machine). Any opinions (p.s. not sure if this is in the right topic list?) Thanks

Am watching with interest! I keep meaning to start a thread asking the same question

It's ok, but it doesn't do good aerobic exercise imo.

It's fab but you have to be prepared to work hard (i'm a bit slack and as soon as i get a bit hot i sit down!) I need classes to make me spend a whole hour working up a sweat, I tried to do an hour on tue night but I did 10 mins then my sister rang so i sat down for 20mins then did another 10 mins then had a bath and went to bed so bottom line is it's good for keeping you on track although the weight isn't reliable (it sometimes tells me i've out 7lb on in a day!) its still nice to see the graph going in a down ward slope and its good if you can't get out to the classes or swimming.

Yes I have and I quite like it. There are 4 'types of activities. Yoga and muscle which are lead by a sort of virtual trainer type person. She shows you what to do and then you stand on the board and do it. The board can tell if you are doing it right or not and the trainer tells you and then gives you info on how you have done and there is a score and a scoreboard. I quite like this as at aerobics and things - long long ago before the dc I just stood at the back and tried to look busy...

Then there are balance games and aerobic things which are more fun and you use your mii for. There is a step class, hula hoop, jogging, dressing up as a penguin and catching fish, skiing.

Another thing that I like is that all the minutes that you do are added up for the day so you can do a few minutes here and there through the day when have time.

I have provided my 20 month old with a white plastic box lid and an old digibox remote and this is her wii fit and she stands next to me doing it!

depends how fit you are to begin with. a lot of people on here say that it doesnt get out of breath but the hula hooping and jogging gets me.

the muscle exercises are good and you feel them the next day. my dd1 4 also has her own wii board it is the bottom of baby anabells sheep rocker!! she loves to hula hoop on it!

i love mine but wii sports is probably better in a calorie burning point of view. i usually weigh myself and warm up on the wii fit then do some boxing and tennis on wii sport! although i get a bit too into wii sport and am told that i bounce around the living room like the duracell bunny on speed!!! i then go back on the wii fit and do some muscle training.

its good for keeping an eye on your weight as you are meant to weigh yourself everyday and you get reminders that you havent weighed yourself every time you turn the wii on if you install wii fit chanell. last time mine told me it was worried about me for losing too much weight and said i need to slow down and relax, although it usually tells me off for eating too much nad not losing anything so dont think i have much to worry about!!

You can't get them at the moment. As for the WII at Christmas. They've marketed them but curtailed deliveries to UK.

Yes I love mine. It does help tone you up, but you don't get very out of breath on many of the exercises.

I love that it moniters your weight and BMI, and the more you pay the more you unlock.

However I hate that you can't just set it up to do more than one thing at a time. Instead you have to select each exercise seperately, which IMO wastes so much time. Last week I did 1 hour exercise (it moniters that too), but was actually doing it for 1.5 hours!!!

jogging aand hula get me too!

I managed to get one last week, so there are still some coming available, but I'd been looking for a few weeks and it was just luck that I passed the shop at lunchtime when they'd had a delivery that morning - she reckoned they'd be gone in a couple of hours, so it's really just luck!

I do feel the muscles aching from the yoga and the exercises, and get puffed hula-ing, but then I've not been getting much exercise for quite a while, so it probably depends how fit you feel you are.

I did just unlock the 10 minute Hula Hoop - that's a bit knackering.

Fantastic. Sounds like I shall be asking for it for my birthday then. I am pretty happy if it doesn't do brilliantly on the aerobic stuff. I can always go outdoors and actually jog somewhere etc (yeah right!)

I've had mine a week after 2 months of being on waiting lists! I love it. Super Hula hoop is the best - my record is 750!

750 on super hula hoop - wow, I'm impressed.

I think at the end it is a game, however you will burn more calories playing this game than sat on your backside doing nothing.

It is loads of fun though, I love the ski jump.

I just got mine. Managed to find my BMI and 'age' before DD climbed all over it. Now looking forward to her bedtime tonight so I can start working on it

By the way, if anyone is looking for a Wii Fit, try FNAC - It's an electronics retailer in France that also ships to UK.

I love mine - if you really go for it then the aerobic stuff can you get out of breath! I do jogging - about 15 minutes. 15 minutes of step, advanced hula and advanced 13 minute boxing. If you just go through the motions then you probably could do it without breaking a sweat but if you throw yourself into then I think it is a good form of exercise.
The muscle stuff is very good and I enjoy the yoga too.
I've lost about half a stone and over 2 and a half inches from my waist. I did that in three weeks! Have been busy decorating so haven't been on it much the last 2 weeks. I will be back on it after this weekend though as we have nearly finished...
