My husband was hacked which resulted in a very stressful day yesterday sorting all the mess out. I've just woke up to deal with a poorly child and seen that someone tried to access my Gmail account using the correct password luckily it was blocked and I've changed my password but wth is going on how can we stop this please? It seems too much of a coincidence for someone to suddenly try getting in my account the same time hubbt was hacked. We are not tech savvy so this is extra stressful as we just don't know what we are doing.

Perhaps you've used the same password for a few different sites? Or your DH had a list of passwords stored on a hacked folder? Suggest: 1) Get a password manager and change all your passwords, using their password generator rather than thinking up new ones yourself (1Password or Lastpass are meant to be user friendly). 2) Switch on 2fa (two factor authentication) where sites allow, and verify via app (e.g. Google authenticator or Authy) rather than via text message or email. Wired has some good articles, eg. www.wired.com/story/password-manager-autofill-ad-tech-privacy/

Oh, and you can check what computers your Google account is logged in on (I think you can do the same for twitter, Facebook, etc) by going to the security settings. Use this to make sure an old phone or computer isn't still logged in somewhere

Thank you I logged out of all computers changed all passwords and it seems to have been ok today no suspicious activity so fingers crossed that's the end of it.
