Ground Control to... erm, Falcon Heavy - anyone watching?!

Is anyone else watching Elon Musk's Falcon Heavy rocket launch this evening (1830)?
DP will be at work but says he'll stop driving to see it, and I'm hoping our toddler will sit still to watch it with me.

Any thoughts on the mannequin-in-car/Bowie soundtrack detail? TBH I can see myself crying if I think about Space Oddity playing from a little red car in space Blush

What a time to be alive. I found it really emotional! Sad that the core didn't seem to make it but such a huge achievement for Elon Musk and all the SpaceX team. I can't understand why nobody else seems that excited by it all?! A mannequin in a space suit has just been launched in a car by a rocket to orbit for god knows how many years and the rockets that got him there managed to synchronise perfectly back to earth and land safely and will be reused again. Can you tell I loved it?!!

It was awesome!!!! My DH and I are both space geeks and Bowie fans and that was just fantastic!

So pleased someone is pushing to take a step forwards.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one thrilled about it Smile I did well up as it launched into the sky, I thought it was breathtaking! Despite the third missing its landing target, the way the two side cores returned was brilliant.

DP and I seriously thinking of starting a (giant) penny jar to save for a trip over to Cape Canaveral, to watch a rocket launch from afar.
