Virginmedia asking us to change our password

We had an email saying that we should change our wi fi password which was given to us on our hub. I have looked at their guide to do this and I now have a real headache. Ethernet cable (how on earth!) has to be connected via my computer, then we have to find the site which allows you to change it. After this exhausting process we will then have to try to connect our equipment if it is by wi fi. It doesn’t sound straight forward eg like connecting a new piece of equipment. I could ring them but having experienced the instruction by phone procedure before, trying to locate this and that, crawling around with sweat poring off me, I don’t think I can stand it. Dh is completely non technical and I am too old for this. Anyone else receiving this instruction to undergo a trial of nerves? Any comfort out there? Do I really have to do it? Have Virgin been hacked? Their password on my super hub is already complicated and varied enough I would have thought.
