Geeky stuff

OK, I'm useless with technology. I need to wipe my iphone and free up some space on my icloud. How?

Just that. I have an iphone and ipad that are linked and have loads (8,000 - eek) of photos on them. I think I have backed them all up on my PC so can delete them off my phone and ipad.

I need to wipe the data (having a battery replacement at the weekend) and want my contacts and WhatsApp Chats backed up (they haven't been for 7 months!)

Please can anyone help me? I will be eternally grateful!

If you've got iCloud back up, you just tell it to back up and and then factory reset the iPad.

You can then choose to restore from the back up later - you'll get everything back including apps photos etc, it's literally a mirror image.

You do have have to pay for it though

Is there any way that I can take the photos off icloud and just use the free allocation for the other things?

I'm not sure to be honest. You said you have then backed up already, in which case when you choose what to back up you can just untick the photos option.
