My third this year

user1476140278 Tue 11-Oct-16 00:17:39

What do they do?

EverySongbirdSays Tue 11-Oct-16 00:19:07

Seriously grrr why do they bollock round with £160 headphones no fucker wants - this is the annoying shit

PoppyPicklesPenguin Tue 11-Oct-16 00:20:35

Die a horrible death

I discovered Anker nylon braided on Amazon

I've had it for over six months now and no sign of dying any time soon.

EverySongbirdSays Tue 11-Oct-16 00:20:41

Oh I was hoping to get the photo up before any replies!

PoppyPicklesPenguin Tue 11-Oct-16 00:21:41

People take Apple charger issues very seriously, nearly as seriously as cake

EverySongbirdSays Tue 11-Oct-16 00:21:53

What is Anker Nylon Braided?

botanically Tue 11-Oct-16 00:23:52

Mine went on fire while I was using it because of this! When I get a replacement I'm going to get one of these

PoppyPicklesPenguin Tue 11-Oct-16 00:24:44

Type of Apple iPhone charger

Like this one

I have one in red

DoYouRememberJustinBobby Tue 11-Oct-16 00:24:58

I have a Bolse cable. It was less than £15, is much longer than an apple lead and comes in pretty colours. Those apple leads are a joke. The ones for the laptops do the same and cost a fortune!

Tartyflette Tue 11-Oct-16 00:29:34

I bought one of those braided cords a couple of months ago and it now has a barely visible kink in it just below the neck and has stopped working. angry

PoppyPicklesPenguin Tue 11-Oct-16 00:32:26

mine has been fantastic, and something is always being charged smile

EverySongbirdSays Tue 11-Oct-16 00:33:10

Oh don't say that JustinBobby my laptop one has been in hale and hearty health for years - i feel it is suddenly jinxed!

It is genuinely my 3rd this year. And it's happened maybe once or twice before.

I now have two in my possession like this. I feel like going down to the store and demanding a new one even though I've no receipts

PoppyPicklesPenguin Tue 11-Oct-16 00:35:15

i would try it, DP is on his third phone case because it has chipped on the corners because he keeps dropping it he told them this and they replaced it.

EverySongbirdSays Tue 11-Oct-16 00:41:39

Definitely going to at least make some noise at a poor Apple serf whose fault it isn't and has to stand there and be all American ultra polite about something that isn't their fault.

The iphone screens smash so fucking easily now as well. I put a protector on my after the second smash and it's still cracked.

Their quality is so not what it was 10 years ago, but I can't move to Samsung or whatever because I can play literally my entire music library over wifi through my phone

I tried the braided cords an they are shite. My latest plan is buying cords from John Lewis with a year guarantee.. I will return them if/when they break. It helps that I have a John Lewis account so all the receipts are online.

Moonpuddle Tue 11-Oct-16 02:27:46

I'm not sure I agree that the screens are delicate. Our family has had lots of iPhones and we have never had a screen break.

I hope I'm not tempting fate grin

Apple Store will replace if genuine product even without receipt. I've had 3 replacement lightning cables for my iPad that's almost 4 years old because of the way the cable cover bubbles, buckles then splits. They never quibble about changing it!!

BertieBotts Tue 11-Oct-16 06:31:42

They are breakable. I'm always dropping my Samsung, never so much as a scratch (touch wood).

PikachuSayBoo Tue 11-Oct-16 06:33:15

Amazon own brand cables are good. Ive got a 2m long black one which I think cost £12 and well over a year old with no problems.

MargotLovedTom Tue 11-Oct-16 06:44:29

They are shit, and another reason why I dislike Apple (dds have iPads - their choice. DH and have Samsung phones and have never once had a charger problem).

Greyandyellow Tue 11-Oct-16 06:50:05

Got a lightening charger cable in Wilko for £2! Bargain grin.

I've tried mending the fray with Sugru.

It's holding up, so far.

OP: would you consider reporting your thread to MNHQ idc and having it moved to 'Geeky Stuff' (so it doesn't go pfft from chat).

As I'm pretty sure I'll be needing these recommendations, and am hoping it'll be well into the future

gingeroots Tue 11-Oct-16 07:51:41

Gosh sugru .Never heard of it so had a quick google .Looks pretty good .
