Watching Sky TV in others rooms - have magic eye and splitter

Hi everyone,

Wondered if you can help (but be gentle, I aren't overly technical!!!).

We moved house last week and can't seem to set up viewing Sky in other rooms, we have TV Link magic eyes and there is a splitter in the loft which the guy who lived here before us pointed out and said it was what he used to watch TV in all the other rooms (we assumed he meant Sky TV).

We've followed the set up advice on line and it seems we have all the cables where they should be. So:

  1. there is a cable coming into the living room which the Sky man installed, this cable splits into 2, and has been put into the back of the box into dish input 1 & dish input 2
  2. we have an aerial cable coming out of RF-Out 2 going into an aerial cable in the wall, which we assume goes up to the splitter in the loft
  3. The splitter is a SLX Gold Signal Booster. It is lit up, with various aerial cables coming out of it.
  4. On the other TVs we have the aerial cable coming out of the wall, into the TV link magic eye and then into the aerial/antenna hole on the TV.

The red light on the magic eyes are lighting up.
We are getting freeview but not Sky TV.

We don't know what to do!

Any help would be much appreciated.,
    Thanks,

I'm sure with Sky you have you have to pay for multi room and have two viewing cards, did you manage to watch Sky with a splitter in your previous house, are you just watching the same programme in different rooms or different programmes

I watch sky upstairs with a magic eye and everything you are doing sounds right. I think it's your tv that's the problem, that's it's not tuning in or something.

you need to check where the wall point is going - I would expect that the main roof aerial goes into the splitter and then goes out to the various rooms - so when you are plugging the RF-out into the wall it isn't going anywhere.
You need to change the splitter set up so that the lead coming from the RF-out socket that you are plugging the Sky output into goes into the main feed input in the splitter. This will then come out to the other rooms.
You won't then be able to use the aerial to watch freeview in the main room unless you have 2 aerial feeds to that room.
