Setting up a basic website

I am looking to set up a basic website for my craft business. I am not especially techy but I would like the ability to be able to update the site and upload photos from my iphone and also to allow customers to order items paying by Paypal.

Can anyone please recommend a website builder which won't cost more than a few pounds a month?

there are quite a few website builders, such ad shopify, squarespace etc, although these can end up working out expensive!

to be honest, If you're just starting out I would go for a platform like etsy or bigcartel, where there is more 'passing trade'. selling through a standalone website is hard unless you already have a customer base.

Have you considered selling through Amazon? You would get the traffic but limit the hassle of organising payments and you get seen in 5 European countries.

cdtaylornats - assuming someone wants to be seen in several European countries, they may also need to be registered for VAT in those countries...

Think it came into effect 01/01/2015.

Use WordPress, it's free and gives you much more freedom to customise your website than website builders such as Wix (which although fee paying and with limited functionality is admittedly very user friendly for a rookie)

Hi Rocky,

Do you already sell online? As mentioned by other people, marketplaces such as Amazon, Ebay & Etsy (specifically for craft products) are great (and easy) ways to dip your toe in the water and hit the ground running without having to worry about site theming, store setup & traffic generation etc.
