Are there such a thing? Not gaming conventions, more computer based gaming/coding?

Shameless place marking so I can come back later.

Ds (11) is doing YRS this summer (but only the regional stage). First time for him.

He's 12, very good on computers. Its something I'd like us both to do if possible.

YRS, as mentioned previously, also run hyperlocal. For children & mentors so you could do it together if there's one near you. Also hackathons.

Buy a Raspberry Pi and check out a Raspberry Jam.
Fun for all the geeky family.

If you're near London, look at We Code on Facebook. They've based in Chesham in Bucks and have just done their first coding sessions over half term. My daughter loved it.

Try getting in touch with the local branch of the British Computer Society.

YRS is brilliant. My DS did it last summer and he said he learned more in that week than a whole year of school computer science club.
