HELP! What's my daughter done to the TV? Is it safe to have in the front room?

Help me please

My daughter decided to carry out an over enthusiastic gymnastic display on the armchair Angry

The screen isn't smashed, but the picture has been affected - looks like most of the bottom part of the screen has been covered with a sheet or something.

I have the added problem of suffering from OCD, and when I googled broken TVs, I didn't find anything about this problem, but came upon stuff about all the toxic things that TVs contain, so now I'm panicking about whether it is safe to have in my front room, if it would have leaked anything dangerous.

That's before i even wonder if it'll be possible to fix...

Please help - I'm getting in a right state Sad

should have said she was doing enthusiastic gymnastics, did a forward roll off the chair into the TV, it fell backwards and this is the result...

You're fine, I don't think you'll be able to get it fixed I'm afraid, but it's not harmful.

Thanks. Wish I hadn't googled. Trying to fight off a panic attack.

It won't have leaked any toxins. But it's definitely dead, I'm afraid (recently happened to us).

Tis a pain. Wish I could stop panicking, but I really appreciate you replying. Thanks.

The toxins in a TV are the things that leech out overtime into landfill sites. It wont do any hard sitting in a house, but you should dispose of it properly by taking it to a recycling centre.

I was wondering if by it falling it would call some kind of leak because of it being broken... I'll definitely make sure it's disposed of responsibly though.

Google and OCD are a terrible combination...

When I turn the freeview box off, the bottom of the screen shines blue, but the top half is the normal shade of blue and the bottom half is lighter. When the box is on, then it's like in the picture. Sorry - I should stop going on about this - maybe I need to have a glass of wine...

Its buggered. Switch it off and bung it in the garden if its stressing you out.

Or switch it off and see if it settles overnight.

Nothing is leaking anywhere though, it's nothing to stress about honestly.
