Hi

I'm looking for some help with deciding whether we should replace DD's kindle with an iPad. She's currently saving up for an iPad (because her friend has one) and I want to check whether the issue I had with my old iPod/iPhone is the same on iPads (latest models).

I know how to restrict content/websites but my issue previously with this is that the same video set for locking my iPod/iPhone, is also the code to access the control section. It also means that when a website comes up as restricted, my DD knows the security code from when you access it at the start so can easily by pass any restrictions I put on, simply because it's the same code.

I've never been able to set my unlock code different from the control part of my iPod/iPhone & as I've not upgraded the iPod or iPhone with the latest upgrades, I'm not sure whether that's something that you can now do.

I hope that makes sense, if anyone can advise if this is something that you can now do, I think we'll def go for an iPad. If not, I'd rather stick with something I know I can restrict the way I need to.

Thanks

Just tried putting a restrictions password which is different from the 'unlock' one on my iPad (ios 8.1.3) and it worked - and you can change it by disabling and then renabling restrictions.

Excellent, thanks for confirming that. I might contribute to cost then (the saving up was my way of holding off buying it for as long as possible, with her 'want' of the iPad waning Wink ).
