I have a small Apple problem that is disproportionately bothering me

I'm going to say my name is Shelagh pronounced Sheila (it's not). On my iPhone and iPad, emails now come into my inbox showing Sheila in the "To" bit. So even when someone's emailed [email protected], Apple will then show "From: Fred, To: Sheila. And vice versa - my sent box shows Sheila too.

My email is a gmail account, but gmail isn't the problem because there's no sign of Sheila anywhere on a PC. It's only an issue on Apple products.

So I'm thinking it must be Siri. At some point I must have told Siri my name is Shelagh, he's heard Sheila and now I'm stuck.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can change this back? I've looked in Settings - can't see anything. Do I just have to accept it? Thanks.

OK, my emails come to my iPad to Chris Smith. When I touch the name it shows my entry in contacts. I just tried changing my name in Contacts to Christine Smith, and now my emails (including already sent ones) come to Christine Smith.

So you might want to see what you're listed as in your Contacts app, or in Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendars/ My info

check your own contact, for yourself, you will have a 'nickname' or an alias. that is what apple will use, remove that and it will use the contact name, or first / last name depending on how you have chosen to display it.

YES!!! Sorted. No more irritating Sheilas. Thank you thank you thank you :).

Although why Apple decided to give me a nickname (that's what it was called on the contact thing) is beyond me.
