So Hudl or Nexus for dc for Christmas?

I'm an apple gal but iPad minis are too expensive for the dc IMO.

So this is what they will want it for:
Apps (games)
Watching ruddy you tube
Surfing the net (mainly school research , supervised etc etc)
Homework - they are still at primary school so not loads (we have wireless bluetooth keyboard if too much typing is unfeasible on such a small screen)
Watching films/TV shows

That's probably the extent of it. They both have iPods so not going to be needed for music particularly.

So will a hudl cut the mustard? I know the nexus is good but is it worth the extra £80?

Be careful with the nexus Mo. Have you seen mine and Oblomovs' threads about them? And how google tried to take all our money?

And how there is no parental control on them?

I don't know a thing about hudls but they cannot be worse for primary age children than the feck-sus.

No I haven't! One of the reasons I was thinking nexus is they are supposed to have good parental controls. Apple doesn't have ANY bastards

Will try and find your threads...

No, there are zero on the nexus.

It is a shame, I had assumed Apple would do better on that front so am surprised they don't.

IMO the nexus is very much a grown up machine. It isn't set up for kids and there are a lot of pitfalls.

Examples being, you can't restrict what age films are advertised on it, and also, google lifted my card details from an ancient transaction online before I even got the nexus, and used them to offer purchases to ds which he didn't know he was buying as he hadn't got any voucher credit.

It's evil.

Oh I mean it did it through my email address which I had to give to set it up in the first place.

I never ever activated the card on the nexus or entered details into it.

Luckily only lost about a tenner and we got most of it back in the end. Ob lost a few hundred I think but also got it back, but it was fecking hard work and took ages.

Yikes Mo, you know I think I was still posting as Rooners back then. Sorry Blush

Ob's is the best one though, I'm on that too.

I am eternally indebted to you for that link - why oh why could I not find anything like that when I looked?! Mind you not sure if it will work on the 4.2 but worth a try.

Hope you get more answers soon.
