New Yahoo Mail driving me mad!!!!

hellsbells99 · 16/10/2013 16:07

Since Yahoo changed its mail software last week, I am having problems using it on my PC. To start with I cannot print an email anymore.....
Then they have tried to link 'conversations' together but it is not nice and clear like on iphone messages.....its all jumbled up.
Anyone else having problems?
Is the only alternative the Basic view - which then keeps changing back to the new view....
I hate it!

You're not alone in that. I'm on the verge of swapping to another email provider as it's the last straw. The latest changes are just awful and run badly and if you google, you'll find there are tons of threads out there on various sites from people also struggling.

I was just moaning about this! It's awful. I can't find messages easily, I hate the linked conversations and if they have attachments you have to scroll through all of them to see the previous e-mail. I often need to refer back to what was in the previous e-mail when I reply and this makes it so hard.

It was so good and easy to use before, why did the change it? Feckers.

Me too!

I hate how the format has changed in that when replying to an email, the one I'm typing is now below the one I'm answering....and as you say the link in conversations too - bloody annoying! AAAArrgghhhhh!

Think I am going to have to look for a new mail provider but didn't really want to have to change my email :(

It's a pain isn't it? I stopped using hotmail ages ago for similar reasons, that and I was just getting so much spam.

I'm with Gmail now which I really like, it's easy to use and understand and it's recently started to filter my messages automatically into different folders so emails from things like facebook and mumsnet go into one (called Social) and promotions, like newsletters I've signed up to or voucher schemes etc go into "Promotions" so this kind of thing doesn't clog up my inbox. Plus the search works well on it so I find it easy to find things. You can really easily change how it sorts different kinds of messages too. It just seems far more intuitive than most free email providers.

It does link conversations but if you set it not to do this then the setting stays. I got used to it and like it now.

I thought there'd be someone on here sharing my thoughts! I've just spent half an hour trying to forward something - previously perfectly simple, now a nightmare. I hate the horrible new jumbly inbox. I actually had to google to find out how to save something in my draft folder. As timeforahaircut says, there are lots of people complaining. I really don't want to change my email address, I've had it for about 20 years, but if I don't get used to it soon I will have to.

I agree too. It used to work just fine. Now it doesn't. Twice recently, an email has refused to send at all. The inbox looks 'inside out' to me and replying is messy. I'm also considering changing to another provider. Shame. That's really inconvenient!

I've been recommended to use the Linux system countless times by an IT chap I know who uses it himself, and he never in all the years I've known him had any problems.....except when he has to sort mine out thanks to Windows/BT, and Yahoo not playing nicely together.
I think it's time I took him up on that recommendation.

Outlook/Hotmail is my main email but use my Yahoo one now and then and just logged in and agree with you all. I've even got a sponsored email from some crap called Shop Sees Halloween Candle that's proving hard to delete. The ads are just horrid, never mind the spam.

I'm thinking the best thing to do is go to a provider that's paid on the basis of 'you get what you pay for'. Have concerns with Gmail about privacy.

I loathe all the latest changes in Yahoo Mail. Let's do something about it!! If we were to start a boycott of some or every advertiser that posts on Yahoo Mail until they give us back our old Yahoo THAT would get their attention. Now, how to do this effectively?

If you google, you'll find there are literally thousands of people showering yahoo with complaints - and then complaints about lack of response to the complaints. It's been described as an online riot.

I keep finding more and more problems. I stopped replying on the back of an email because I don't like the way it all gets lumped in together. Now I find that if you compose a new email but use the same subject field as the one you're responding to, it STILL gets lumped in.

I'm seriously thinking of changing now. I don't like gmail. Shimmering - you mentioned Linux. Could you explain what that is? And is anyone completely happy with their provider and would recommend switching?

Linux is an operating system (it replaces Windows). It's not directly relevant as any webmail client would be much the same.

I use Gmail, so not much use to you - does your isp offer email accounts?
