Samsung laser printer won't work

Printer has not worked since July, I keep leaving it in the hope that it will suddenly spring back to life. When I try the troubleshooter I get the following message

"USB PRinting Support is an older USB device and might not work with USB 3.0."

"Some USB 2.0 devices are incompatible with USB 3.0. Plugging them into a USB 2.0 port can fix the problem"

The thing is, between April and July the printer worked fine. No change to PC in that time. So not sure whether printer is just bust, or should I actually try to resolve what the messages are saying (but I don't know the diff between USB 2 and 3.)

And if a lost cause, can anyone recommend a colour printer (laser, perhaps) please?

USB 3 ports are Blue in colour I think.

Are you sure NOTHING has changed... for example, not installed Windows 8? Goggling the error message gives me lots of hits which include things about Windows 8.

Try:
Check the USB lead for signs of damage at the connectors. If possible use a different lead. Plug it in to the USB port on your computer that you would have used prior to July.
Check which version of Windows your system is currently running.
Check if there are any new drivers for the printer. Samsung UK Support

Thanks Nannynick Am certain nothing has changed. Bought new PC in April, printer set up fine, happily printing etc. It is Windows 8 though so will google message. Didn't think of that. Will also check USB lead, hadn't thought of that.

Have checked for drivers and re-installed etc. Am wondering whether printer broken, and PC yielding unhelpfu messages. (Printer is 2 or 3 yrs old, not quite sure).
