MacBook Air - 11 or 13 inch?

I currently have a wee 10" HP that is on its last legs despite only being 3 years old. I used to have a Mac (back in the day of the neon laptops - mine was blue and I used to stroke it) and am definitely going for a MacBook this time.

Which size is better? I know they're both light but I'm undecided because on the one hand, I've got really used to having a tiny laptop that I can bung in my bag, but on the other I'm going to be doing a lot more work from home soon (at the moment I only use my laptop for MN Blush) and I don't know whether I'll regret getting the smaller one if I'm staring at the screen for 8 hours a day.

Any thoughts?

Weigh out a bag of sugar equivalent to the weights of each model.

Spend a day with the lighter one in your bag. Then switch to the heavier one.

You'll soon decide either:

  • weight seemed the same or near enough , ie get the bigger screen; or

  • the lighter one was soooo much easier to carry, ie get that one

I don't think there is much different technically or performance wise between them (assuming you are a normal user, not a film maker)

Good idea, thank you! Yes, just a normal user.

go with the 13inch, it will be a bit more powerful and the slightly larger screen is much more beneficial.

If you are going to be using it a lot for working from home it makes sense to, unless you start to look at retina displays. Weight wise the difference is negligible.

Nothing to d with what you're asking but did you know that PC World are offering the Airs at a slightly reduced rate at the moment? Not the latest models, though.
