I'm setting up a very basic online shop, using Paypal buttons and shopping cart/checkout thingy. It's my first attempt at this and I'm finding it a little confusing.
I've just got off the phone to the lady at Paypal and she said their checkout system is very basic and not able to do the things I want it to do (which I'll explain in a minute). She suggested I get a developer to write some extra code, but as they are fairly standard things I want to do I wondered if there is any existing code somewhere I could copy and paste for free or cheap?
The things I want to do are...
- Give customers delivery options such as free collection, £5 delivery within 5 miles of x, £10 courier delivery etc. Maybe a drop down list like you get on ebay. Paypal will only let me link delivery charges with the total amount of the transaction at present.
- Allow customers to input a discount code to receive various offers.
Both seem fairly ordinary functions for buying stuff online so I was surprised Paypal doesn't cater for them. Does anyone know if code is available somewhere, or if there is an alternative shopping cart system that has these functions and allows Paypal payments.
