Tethering an iPhone to an iPad

I'm thinking about buying an iPad. I already have an iPhone and don't want to pay extra per month to have 3G on the iPad. Have read through some of the posts here and have seen that I can tether my iPhone to the iPad which is ideal.

My question is how exactly would I do that? Just want to understand before I go ahead and buy it.

TIA

It's very easy. In the settings of your iPhone you click turn on hotspot.

It will then generate a password and start broadcasting your signal.

Turn on the ipad. Click wifi and it should show your phone (eg mine would say pantryboy's phone)

Select the phone and type in the password that the iPhone gave you and your ipad will be online.

On your iPhone it is settings>personal hotspot

That's brilliant. Thank-you so much. Hoping to get the iPad today so if I have any problems I'll come backGrin
