Video camera...is it broken??

Apologies, I'm not very techy, but I downloaded videos from my video camera (Sanyo xacti) onto my computer as my memory card was full, I opted for them to be erased from the card at the same time.
Now, when I try to watch these videos on my computer they don't work (just jump about randomly through some frames) ....so is the problem with my video camera, memory card or computer??
Bit gutted as its all my videos of 2 yr old DS since Christmas and I was clearing the memory ready for DC2 arrival in next few days. Hmm

Given you are getting some playback but it is jumping (the player may be dropping frames) I would wonder what format the video is... it may be too high res and/or in a codec that takes your computer too long to decode in software.

Handbrake can convert most video formats, so may be worth downloading that and doing a sample conversion (pick quite a short video, as it will take time) using one of the pre-set configuations in Handbrake.

How would you have normally played back video?

Thanks nannynick......I shall give all that a go later when toddler is napping, I tried a different memory card and the same thing happened so I know it's not the card now!
