synching iPad to a new device

Our iPad is synched to our old PC, which is on its last legs and hardly used nowadays. I have a new laptop and want to synch the iPad to this instead. Is this possible and if so, how do I do it? DH is worried that doing this will wipe what is already on the ipad.

I did this yesterday. If you load up BOTH computers and turn on home sharing you can move everything from the old pc to the new one. Then synch the ipad to the new itunes and it'll be done.

If you type moving itunes to new pc into google apple will give you blow by blow instructions but its easy peasy.

Does it make any difference that it's an iPad 1?

DH has already tried to move iTunes to my laptop but it didn't work properly. He says the reason is that we originally had everything on a Mac - our music was a mixture of stuff we've downloaded and CDs that he transferred. Somehow, in the process of moving iTunes from Mac to PC and then onto my laptop, some of the music won't play properly - as if a link is broken. He doesn't know why this is.

Sorry i hadnt logged on since you messaged. Im a novice at this but firstly make sure you have itunes on the new pc. And make sure uts the latest version. Firstly home sharing with automatically move your apps/books/movies over. You will need to click to automatically move music, but it'll only move your purchased stuff. On the new computer if you click on home share you should have the option to import anything not in the new library but you need to select that option. Alternatively if you have a seperate hard drive you can copy/paste the files over.

Thanks DoctorsWife - DH is on to it now and is trying to download a piece of software which he assures me will work. I am losing the will to live with it all tbh.
