How to set up same model of printer

Have you set the new printer as the default printer?

If you have installed driver software twice for the same model, you might see it as 'canon pixma xyz (2)' in the dialogue box when you go to print a document.

Also - If you just plugged it in and hoped the existing drivers would work, there is a chance that it mightn't. I recall having to reinstall drivers for my canon, and it allocated a new number to the printer during the installation process. It had to detect the printer in order to do this (not the ip number btw, something else).

I set one up at xmas. Had to connect it by usb to configure.

Check access point name and key. Do you know encryption type of network?

Standard setup (not WPS encrypt)

Sounds like the printer works but you have not done something in the setup... Question is what.

Have you tried reinstalling the software?

Thanks. So I finally got it set up and the wireless connection to work.... won't print documents from my PC! OMG - I am now 5 days late with various urgent work projects. It copies and all the ink cartridges are working but it just doesn't do the one job I desperately need it to do.

What now? Do I try to re-set it to non-wired connection and see if that works? Trouble is, there are 3 other PCs in the house that need to use this printer from other rooms and without wireless, how is this going to work?

I cannot believe the trouble I'm having and all printers being from John Lewis, I think I expected more than this. Any further advice to get the darn thing to print a document?

What Naoko said. You will probably just need to make sure it can see your wireless, but you shouldn't need to re-install all the drivers and bloaty software that goes with it.

Oh, that's very unlucky! Theoretically, if you've already gone through all the setup steps, it should just work if you plug it in, so I'd try that first. If not, start over - unplug the printer, uninstall the software completely, and go through the setup steps as detailed in the manual as if you've just taken it out of the box and you never had another one.

Following my thread on "Is my printer really dead" - yes, it was indeed a goner.

Bought new and different printer. Set it up. Didn't work. Paid for techie guy to check it wasn't something I'd done - and it wasn't. NEW printer also not working! (Canon Pixma MG6350 from John Lewis)

Just got delivery of yet another printer - exactly same model as the other new one that didn't work.

My question is - to I need to 'connect' this to my PC, using software disc etc or, as it's exactly the same model as the one that I've just set up - will the new one simply need plugging in and nothing further?

Really grateful for speedy replies as I need to get this one set up today but nothing must go wrong this time!!
