t mobile dongle problems

I've got a pay as you go t mobile dongle for my laptop and have never had any problems with it until yesterday. I'm assuming it's to do with EE and am getting really hacked off with it now. When i plugged it in yesterday it came up with orange network and said I was roaming outside the UK. I am not. It is so slow, can take up to half an hour for a page to open. There's little or no speed. Is this just a temporary thing until they sort the networks or is how EE is going to be?

My dongle is with 3 & it wouldn't load for a couple of days cos they were updating the network, when it still wouldn't load or was slow,I just uninstalled it completely from my laptop & reinstalled it,now its better than it was :)

I have a T-Mobile dongle, it seems to be very temperamental depending on the weather conditions, so I can't comment on your ishoo. During the day it seems to be rubbish though, so I'm mostly here at night.

Thanks for the replies. will try uninstalling it, see if that makes any difference. I'm hoping it's a temporary thing. May pop into EE store and see what they can tell me although I'm not too hopeful!

Ok, so I went into an EE store and all they said was they don't know why I have no speed and told me if it was still like it in a few days to buy another dongle Angry They didn't know if it was a network issue either and sent me to t mobile instead. If i didnt have 3 weeks left on the dongle I would change to a different network but don't want to lose the allowance I've got left. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but has made no difference Sad

Have been using a Three dongle from October 2008 until end of September and never seen major speed issue like that.

Can only go with the advice to take laptop and dongle to T-Mobile store {I know that T-Mob and Orange are both part of EE, but staff will only be familiar with the hardware they sold... some will be identical device but other things may be different (and even with an identical device, settings could still be different)}.

I had a tmobile dongle before my current one and it wa so temperamental and unreliable, drove me bonkers. The weather affected it and I couldn't use it at all while moving ie on a train or in the car. I swapped to a three premium dongle about a year ago and it is 100 times better. It stays connected all the way on my journeys where the other one would always drop. In fact it is amazingly reliable and when we moved house I used it as my main Internet connection for a week or so and you could hardly notice the difference ( just if streaming eg Iplayer )

None of which helps you much I realise. Just that maybe if you rely on it a lot for work say then you may want to switch to a three dongle ( has to be a three premium one, uses better technology somehow to maintain the connection, apparently) - for example, I work from home and it is very important for me to stay connected to work all day while I am driving to the shops : )

You have reminded me though that I once had to update the firmware on my tmobile one to speed it up a bit when it was really bad. I seem to remember I had to force them to put me through to the specific tmobile mobile broadband tech support team rather than several layers of frontline support who had no idea what I was on about. The mobile broadband tech support guy gave me a website and instructions to download new firmware from and also told me to change some settings in the pink software interface ( sorry cant remember details ) which did speed it up a bit ( but didn't improve reliability )

Maybe try and get hold of them for the last few weeks?
